Amazing radar detector. Got a huge speeding ticket a while back and choose to purchase this radar detector. Haven’t had a issue with law enforcement since. I can verify its proclaimed range. I detected a Ka band radar from 1 km away on State Route 9 up here in Washington State. It gives a great heads up and can detect radars even if large utility vehicles and many cars are between you and the radar. There are only a few flaws with this system. 1) The X-Band detection is prone to false alarms, this is usually because surveillance systems in stores and radars at airports will sometimes use X-Band frequencies, which can cause false alarms, however these issues are not to common and definitely do not defeat the wonderful detection of K and Ka band. Ka, K and X band all make different sounds when detected, which is a good indicator for the type of speed trap ahead. 2) I would ask that the package come with a fuse tap for a fuse box, as the cigar port is not ideal for power supply in many cars, but fuse taps are cheap and this is not an issue, it would just be a great compliment to users.
Overall, this system is great and if I was going to get a radar detection system in the future, I would have confidence in Thorton again.
